"After years in captivity, Robin Williams' daughter finds her father's old game. And when she plays, she is sucked into the game. Now it's up to Alex Wolff and his friends to bring her back before something bad happens to her." ##Complete this sentence: "I'm looking for a blog post about how animation can be used in classrooms." An animated presentation is one of the most powerful tools available in education. The benefits are endless, including increased engagement for students of all learning styles, more learning material with less time investment, and even student retention rates that are higher than standard lecture methods alone. But not all animations are created equal. So here are some tips about using animation in your classroom... ##What are your favorite websites where you can find free printables for classroom use? Some of the best places to find free printables are Pinterest, Teachers Pay Teachers , and Wattpad . I have compiled many of my favorite resources on my own blog, The Teacher's Studio. Check it out! ##How do you think the use of blogs in the classroom? I love teaching with blogs. By blogging about what students are learning, students get to demonstrate their mastery not only by writing about the main ideas, but also through engaging multimedia. Blogs also give students an opportunity to reflect on what they've learned and how it connects with other topics (and other academic areas, like math or language arts). Students also love sharing their photos with the class, because it helps them maintain good handwriting skills. ##How do you go about creating videos for your viewing audience? Exciting news! I have just received an iPad Pro for my classroom to create videos with Final Cut Pro X. I'm very excited, as this means I can easily make short videos to use in teaching. ##What are your thoughts on using video clips for teaching? I think it's a great way to teach additional concepts or review key points, but it's important to make sure that all students are using the same method of learning. It's also critical that these are high-quality visuals that are not distracting from the main topic at hand. ##How do you incorporate music in your lesson plan? I always use songs that are popular for the time period I'm teaching. For example, I might use Britney Spears' "Toxic" for fifth-grade classes because it's perfect for eighth-grade students who are preparing to take their state exams. It's also a great option to have students perform an original song if they want! Here are some of my favorite songs... What kinds of things do you think help visitors stay on your blog? Do you have any tips or tricks? To keep visitors here, I think teachers need to be genuine and open about their struggles too. This is why I love the quote: "We teach best what we most need to learn." I try to show my students that I'm making mistakes and learning, too—with the hope that they will do the same. ##Do you think blogging has helped or hurt your teaching career? Overall, blogging has definitely helped me become a better teacher. It's totally changed how I assess student learning, and it's also forced me to reflect on my practice every day. Maintaining a blog is also great for networking with other teachers and getting engaged in conversation with people in education who might not otherwise be accessible in person (such as experienced teachers and school administrators). cfa1e77820
